Power stations in the desert

The scheme for providing Europe with power named Desertec, especially backed by the Club of Rome, is not thought through and probably proves to be a fantasy.
It should guarantee a one hundred per cent power supply from renewable sources for Europe by 2050 and create thousands of new jobs in the countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea. But on closer look a number of questions arise which cast some doubt on the wisdom of this plan.

Since the first oil crises in 1973 the main objectives of Danish energy policy have been: Security of energy supply, diversification in use of energy sources, environmental and climate aspects of the use of energy, cost effectiveness of energy supplies.
