The aim of the project is to introduce students, teachers and parents to the concept of using renewable energy sources on the example of photovoltaics. It is easy and accessible to show the younger generation how modern technologies can reliably generate energy and thus solve environmental problems. Schools with such concepts of sustainable development and positive impact on the environment combine the characteristics of the schools of the future, where students are personally involved in the development of curricula and processes.
As part of the project, photovoltaic modules are installed on school roofs to generate electricity, solar energy is stored using modern battery systems and is provided for various school applications (lighting, charging smartphones, etc.), and the topic of solar energy is integrated into the school curriculum with the help of educational materials.
The Solar Schools project began in the summer of 2019 and has now spread to seven Russian cities in seven regions: these are the cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg, Krasnodar, Ufa, Kaliningrad, Ulyanovsk and Samara.
