IV Business Breakfast of the banking community, investors and initiators of projects in the field of energy saving programs for remote and isolated areas using renewable energy.
On December 11, 2018, the IV Business Breakfast of the banking community, investors and initiators of projects in the field of energy saving programs for remote and isolated areas using renewable energy was held in Moscow at the hotel ”National”. In Russia, taking into account the territorial, climatic and socio-economic characteristics of the territory and population, it is effective to develop integrated energy supply systems based on the use of RES in decentralized and autonomous areas. Therefore, a year ago, initiated by NP "EUROSOLAR Russia", there was a national project "Implementation of energy supply systems for remote and isolated areas" - a joint project of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation and the Federal Ministry of Energy and Economy of Germany. The Breakfast was devoted to an informal discussion of the mechanisms for the implementation of complex projects, primarily pilot projects in this area. The event was moderated by Ekaterina Galitsyna, head of the KfW banking group representative office in the Russian Federation, and George Kekelidze, the Chairman of the Board of EUROSOLAR Russia.
The Breakfast was organized by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Moscow, KFW Banking group, the German energy Agency - dena and NP "EUROSOLAR Russia". The event was attended by representatives of government authorities and ministries of energy of Russia and Germany, Russian and European manufacturers of renewable energy components and decentralized energy supply systems, Russian and German scientific organizations and representatives of the business community, as well as international and national financial institutions.
The event was opened by Matthias Dehner, counsellor of the Embassy of Germany in Moscow on Energy, Environment and Climate. Also welcoming speeches were made by the representative of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation - Dmitry Orlov, Director of the International Energy Cooperation of the Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy of Germany Ellen von Zitzewitz and First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Energy of the Russian Federation Sergey Esyakov. Thereafter a report was made by the Director of international cooperation projects of the German Energy Agency dena Barbel Warnig – she shared the Agency's experience in solving the problems of energy supply of remote and isolated areas in various countries of the world based on renewable energy sources.
The key event at the Breakfast was the report "Market of decentralized energy supply using RES in five regions of the Russian Federation" by member of the Council of non-profit partnership for the development of RES "EUROSOLAR Russia" Alexey Kaplun. In his report, A. Kaplun considered in detail the features of local conditions – climatic, administrative, territorial, energy, consumer, investment, logistics, etc., affecting the solution of the problem of energy supply of remote and isolated territories in five regions of the Russian Federation: the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Kamchatka, the Republic of Altai, the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Krasnodar region. In conclusion, the speaker emphasized that the mechanism of return of investments in the sphere of energy supply of remote and isolated territories with the help of state support programs is extremely necessary, that the main participants of the decentralized energy industry are interested in this and that without this it is impossible to solve the problem of energy supply of these regions.
The General Director of eclareon Christoph Urbschat and Vice-President of the German Solar Energy Association BSW-Solar David Wedepohl told in their reports about the models of possible cooperation on the pilot projects in the field of energy supply in remote and isolated areas, describing the various business models of these projects.
